University of Hull

The University of Hull is a public university founded in 1927, with a proud history of achievement and a long-established international reputation as a research-engaged and innovative higher education institution. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) Hull ranked among the top 50 institutions in the UK by research power. Hull provides a cutting-edge educational experience for over 16,000 students and awards nearly 195 PhDs a year across four faculties. The University actively collaborates in multidisciplinary research through its engagement with a multitude of funders and has an annual research income of £10.3m, with 12% being EU funded. The University has engaged with EU framework programmes for many years, including FP7 projects, H2020, and both as partner and leader of Erasmus+ projects.

Hull University Business School (HUBS) is a leading UK business school with internationally recognised accreditations from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). HUBS has a well established expertise in teaching and research of business sustainability. The organization is an Advanced Signatory to the UN’s Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and is an active member of, amongst others, the UK Business Council for Sustainable Development, the UN Global Compact Network UK, Academy of Business in Society (ABIS) and Business in the Community (BITC).

HUBS is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and its long tradition of research and teaching in Systems Studies recognises the interconnectivity between economic, social, political, and environmental systems, which underpins all of the SDGs. Some of the areas of research in the School include integrated rural tourism, nature-based recreation, wellbeing and ecosystem services, sustainable consumption and production, supply chain management and social responsibility, clean energy and others.

The School was the first in the country to launch a Sustainable Business undergraduate degree in 2013 in its Scarborough Campus, and launched in 2017 a new BA in Business Management with Sustainability at Hull.
